Texas Criminal Records

Companies today are even more concerned about the Texas criminal records and backgrounds of their prospective hires. There have been many instances wherein no background checks or Texas criminal records searches were conducted before hiring an individual. Thus, when the time comes that the employee commits a crime in the context of his job, the employer is held liable. To avoid negligence hiring lawsuits, employers have become meticulous and very particular about doing Texas criminal records and background checks during the pre-employment process.
But what are Texas criminal records? And why do we, as prospective hires, need to know about it?
Texas Criminal Records What are they?
Texas criminal records are the central registries of police. In most cases, these are documents that contain prison punishments or incidents of a crime where the result is imprisonment for a certain period of time. However, there are some instances wherein Texas criminal records are established even though it doesnt lead to imprisonment. These instances will be discussed later in the article.
What are the benefits of knowing your Texas Criminal Records?
The data contained in Texas criminal records are used for criminal sanctions. Additionally, they are used to figure out the reliability of a person. The latter aspect of Texas criminal records is where pre-employment background checks by companies come in. Texas criminal records actually contain information that is instrumental in your prospects of getting hired. Now, while most states do not have any provision in their laws that could protect someone with a record from getting hired or fired based on his or her criminal record, there are some states, like California, that offers protection against such treatment. Thus, it is important for you to know what is contained in your Texas criminal records so you can determine your prospects beforehand. Also, there are ways for you to clean up your Texas criminal records. You only need to check on your local jurisdiction to ask for assistance in that regard.
How Texas Criminal Records are established
As mentioned earlier, Texas criminal records may still be established even when the conviction does not result in imprisonment. For instance, the court has the power to suspend the passing of sentence when there is not minimum punishment prescribed by law. In such case, Texas criminal records are still established even though the passing of sentence has been suspended. Take not that only the act of passing sentence has been suspended and not the sentence itself.
There are also several other ways that criminal records may be established such as in the case of community service, youth punishment, fine, removal from office, and mental disorder.
