Riverside County Criminal Records

The State of California is one of the states in the U.S. that does not have a central repository for criminal records. However, there are several databases out there where you could get criminal records of certain counties, such as Riverside County. The only problem with these sources is that most of them deal particularly with criminal records of convictions. And for this reason, the information they contain may not be as comprehensive as you would like them to be.
There are actually several levels of Riverside County criminal records that deal with circumstances other than convictions. But before we go ahead and explain to you the differences of each, let us first focus on what Riverside County criminal records of convictions are.
Riverside County Criminal Records What is a Conviction Record?
A conviction is when a judgment is handed down from a court indicating that the person in question was found guilty. Riverside County criminal records of convictions are court documents made arising from a case wherein the subject or individual was found guilty of a crime or an offense. Riverside County criminal records of convictions may also result from the fact that the person pleaded guilty to the crime. Like in most democratic countries, American courts assume that everyone is innocent unless proven guilty. However, this does mean that people are not interested to know that someone was arrested for rape and acquitted at trial due to lack of evidence, etc. etc. In most cases, Riverside County criminal records are sought by employers who wish to use the information they provide during their standard pre-employment background checks.
The Four Levels of Riverside County Criminal Records
As mentioned earlier, Riverside County criminal records are separated into four levels and not all of them necessarily involve a conviction.
The first level of Riverside County criminal records is the arrest record. In California, when a law enforcement agency arrests an individual, the arresting agency is required by law and by statute to make a record of this arrest and file at their local database for future reference. Although Riverside County criminal records of arrest may not be publicly accessed, there are a few private vendors which you can contact to provide you legally with the information that you need.
The other three levels of Riverside County criminal records include court records, records of convictions, and inmate records. Records of convictions and inmate records may all be accessed through the California Department of Corrections while court records are all filed and maintained by the Office of the County Clerk of Courts.
